He is responsible for leading the planning process and developing the University’s Strategic Framework, as well as providing the underlying business intelligence used in decision making by the senior management team and governors.
James has spent most of his professional career in higher education across Wales and the UK, as well as a spell with HEFCW where he led on the establishment and management of the pan-Wales GO Wales Employability Programme. During his time within HE, James has worked in a wide variety of areas, including academic quality enhancement and assurance, staff development, knowledge transfer, European project management, partnership development, student development and graduate employability. Added to this is his experience within the private sector and a very interesting period as a researcher in the House of Commons.

His interest lies in effecting and supporting sustainable change within organisations, and in developing and delivering strategies, and sees strategic planning as a key means to achieving these.
