Key course features
- During each academic year, there are opportunities to get industry experience by supporting professional production work with the broad range of clients who utilise our TV Studio.
- The course offers numerous opportunities to collaborate and develop work with fellow course students as well as students from other disciplines such as Game students and Music and Sound Production students.
- Throughout the course, you’ll use dedicated film production and editing spaces.
- The course culminates in a Final Project, where there is an opportunity to develop industry facing work that can support your next steps into your career.

Entry requirements & applying
An undergraduate degree with at minimum a 2:2 level in a related subject.
In lieu of the latter, applicants can submit a record of related professional experience and/ or a professional portfolio of work.
Teaching & Assessment
Teaching
Most of the teaching will be face-to-face in studio and classroom spaces. Methods of teaching and learning also utilise a blended approach including synchronous and asynchronous activities.
Many members of the teaching team are industry active, and are able to bring insights into working life within the Creative Industries. The programme utilises the principles of the University’s Active Learning Framework (ALF) and student learning and success will be effectively supported through using the Moodle VLE, Microsoft Teams, and other online resources.
We have lots of professional clients who visit and utilise our production facilities, and often these activities afford students learning opportunities. The course home is the CIB (Creative Industries Building) which we share with BBC Wales. The CIB is a well-equipped Media production facility with equipment that can support cutting-edge and professional Film Making production and learning. There are also some extra-curricular courses that run periodically within the academic year and afford the opportunity to gain professional qualifications from Avid and Blackmagic.
Assessment
Assessment is mainly undertaken through the production of various film making related artefacts. There are also opportunities to develop communication skills through oral and written presentations.
Teaching and Learning
We offer workshops and support sessions in areas such as academic writing, effective note-making and preparing for assignments.
Students can book appointments with academic skills tutors dedicated to helping deal with the practicalities of university work. Our student support section has more information on the help available.
