Returning full time undergraduate student fee FAQs
Content Accordions
- What is the new tuition fee amount?
£9,250 is the new maximum fee allowed fee for full-time, undergraduate programmes at Welsh universities.
- How will I know what I’m paying?
If you are a new student, starting in 2024, your fee will be stated on your offer letter from the University.
If you are a returning student and your studies are funded by the Student Loan Company (SLC), you will receive an email from the SLC letting you know that the total amount fundable for your tuition fees has increased to £9,250.
If you are a returning student and your studies are self-funded or funded by a sponsor, your fee will be increased to £9,250 and the invoice issued to you/your sponsor in 2024/25 will reflect the new fee.
- My tuition fees are funded by NHS Wales via HEIW’s tuition fee bursary. Do I need to do anything?
No. There is nothing you need to do if your tuition fees are funded by HEIW; the increase will not affect you.
However, if you are studying on a HEIW course but you have opted out of the HEIW tuition fee bursary, point 2 above applies.
- Will I be able to take out a larger student loan to cover the change in fees?
Yes. To support students the Student Loans Company will increase the amount you are able to claim for tuition fees. If you have applied to borrow the full amount to cover your fee, that amount will be automatically increased to £9,250. Only students who have actively chosen to apply for a lower amount than the maximum will not have the amount they are borrowing automatically increased.
- I have deferred my entry. What fee will I pay?
The University will publish fees for new entrants for the 2025/26 academic year in spring 2025 and you will be charged the applicable amount at that point. This will be stated in the new offer letter you will receive prior to starting with us.
- I’m an international student studying, do the changes affect me?
The decision made by the Welsh Government to increase the undergraduate tuition fee cap will not affect the fee currently charged for international students.
- I still have a question regarding fees, who do I contact?
