Oration of Huw Jones
Huw Jones MBE has been instrumental in shaping Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK for half a century, with 40 years as managing director and the past decade as chairman.
During that time, he has played a pivotal role in guiding the family-owned company’s growth and direction. Indeed, Jones Bros has an annual turnover of £155 million and operates one of the largest privately owned plant fleets in the UK.
Huw has also shown an unwavering commitment to developing young talent through the company’s award-winning apprenticeship scheme, which has provided around 40 per cent of its 550-strong team.
Thanks to his vision, Jones Bros has established an enviable reputation for delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK including highways, flood and marine defence, renewable energy, and waste management.
This includes major developments such as Havant Thicket Reservoir in Hampshire – the first large-scale new water storage reservoir in the UK since the 1980s.
Respected across the civil engineering sector and the wider North Wales business community, Huw is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and serves on the CECA Wales and CBI Wales committees.
In recognition of his achievements, he has received numerous honours, including an MBE in 2020.
