Wrexham Glyndŵr University is based in North East Wales. Our main campus in Wrexham is ideally located to give students a memorable experience of studying in the UK. We offer vocationally relevant courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in a wide range of subjects, including business, engineering, science, computing and the creative arts. Our career-focused curriculums are designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to help them gain successful employment and prepare them for life in the workforce after graduation. Students are also given the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through work placements and the chance to showcase their work in competitions and exhibitions.

Academic Entry Requirements

If you’re currently studying the Diplôme du baccalauréat general, then we would look for a minimum score of 12 overall for entry onto the 1st year of one of our degree programmes. In addition to this overall score, we look for scores of 12 or above in specific subjects, depending on the course you’re applying for.

As well as the Baccalauréat Général, we also accept the Option Internationale du Baccalauréat and the Diplôme du Baccalauréat Technologique for science-based subjects. We would also consider the Diplôme du Baccalauréat Professionnel with a minimum of 14 or above overall depending on the subject relevancy.

If you’ve achieved below 12 overall in the Baccalauréat, then you may be considered for entry onto one of our four year (including foundation year) programmes.

If you are studying the Diplôme d'Études Universitaires Scientifiques et Techniques (DUT), then you may be able to enter onto the 3rd year of one our Engineering or Computing degrees with a score of 12/20. For taught postgraduate courses, applicants should hold the Licence (after 3 years of study) or the Maîtrise.

For all levels of study, we’d also look for evidence of your English language ability. If you’ve taken an IELTS test, we’d look for:

  • Undergraduate – 6.0 overall, with no band below 6.0. Individual band scores of 0.5 below this required total may be considered. Holders of the International Baccalaureate Diploma with 26 points or more will be considered for direct admission to Bachelor degree courses
  • Postgraduate – 6.5 overall with no band below 6.5. Individual band scores of 0.5 below this required total may be considered.

If you’ve taken another approved English language test please contact us. Alternatively, we’d accept a grade of 12 or above in the English language component of the baccalauréat.

English Language Entry Requirements

To meet the English language entry requirements at Wrexham Glyndŵr University, international students are expected to have achieved a Grade 12 in English Language.

Alternatively, one of the qualifications listed below will also be accepted. All certificates/qualifications accepted are assessed based on their equivalence to 6.0 overall and a minimum of 5.5 in each component of the IELTS for UKVI (Academic) test. Selected programmes require grades equivalent to IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each skill score. If you are a national of a UKVI Approved Majority English Speaking Country, or you have completed a degree in a UKVI Approved Majority English Speaking Country in the last 5 years, you will be exempt from meeting this requirement.
