Read about the 2019 edition and the 2020 edition, to get a taste of how the Crime Scene Day has run in the past. 2021’s virtual edition will be held on Wednesday 10th March.
Lecturer Andrew Crawford, who teaches on the BA (Hons) Professional Policing course, and founded the Crime Scene Day, outlines what to expect this year:
“The Crime Scene Day, which forms as an assessment for a number of courses, has become a regular fixture in our calendar, but as a result of the restrictions, this year’s edition will be in the form of an online ‘whodunit’ murder mystery.
“For Crime Scene Day 2021, we’ll have a number of experts on hand during the day, they will be providing guidance and support to the investigation team and participants, as well as being available to offer expert opinion and views as the day progresses.”
Who will be involved?
- The actors playing the main roles will be second year Performing Arts students
- Television Production and Technology students will produce the majority of the imagery used on the day
- First year Policing students – will be interviewing witnesses and suspects, working with the Senior Investigating Officer and Forensic Science colleagues
- Senior Investigating Officer: DCI Alun Oldfield
- Criminology expert and senior lecturer: Dr Caro Gordon
