Our Men’s football team is a proud and competitive representation of Wrexham University. We’re not just about playing the game; we’re about fostering a culture of development, teamwork, and excellence both on and off the pitch. The 24/25 season was an exciting dawn for the club as they recruited a new head coach with a long-term vision for the club alongside numerous new players. We currently play in the BUCS Men’s Northern Tier 6 with ambitions to move through the leagues.
Industry leading facilities
We train and play at Colliers Park, the world-class home of the Football Association of Wales (FAW) in the north. This training base provides an elite environment for player and coach development and is also home to Wrexham AFC.

Wrexham University football team offers internship opportunities for students who want to enhance their skills in:
- Match Analysis: Break down games, analyse player performance, and provide detailed reports to enhance team performance.
- Sports Science: Assist with player conditioning, fitness tracking, and recovery techniques.
- Coaching: Work alongside our experienced coaching staff to develop training plans and gain hands-on experience in football coaching.
These internships are designed to upskill our students, giving them real-world experience that prepares them for their future careers.

- Meet the coach/staff
Head Coach – Dominic Doherty
Dominic joined Wrexham University in October 2024 and is a lecturer within the football coaching department as well as the manager of the University's men's football team. Alongside playing experiences in the futsal champions league and at semi-professional level, Dom has been coaching for 11 years in a variety of environments both nationally and internationally.
He is a UEFA B licenced coach and has worked for professional clubs globally including Everton, Manchester City, and Chicago Fire.Students are currently in roles close to the team such as Match Analyst, Assistant Coach, and Goalkeeping Coach.
