Alex is a Research Assistant having joined the Faculty of Social and Life Sciences back in July 2023. Alex is currently working on research into young people’s well-being and youth work. Previously, she worked on a Youth Work Funding Review, commissioned by Welsh Government which mapped sources of funding in youth work and explored the implications of the current funding model.
Before becoming a Research Assistant Alex worked in Youth Work, Playwork and Community Development for the last 15 years, including managing Wrexham Youth and Play Partnership since 2018. This meant never a dull day, supporting community volunteers and staff working with young people in youth clubs, adventure playgrounds and out and about in communities across Wrexham as well as seeking funding to sustain and develop the organisations work.
Alex has a BA Criminology with Psychology which she completed at The University of Wales, Bangor in 2006 and an MA Youth and Community Studies which she completed here in Wrexham University in 2012. Outside of work Alex loves swimming (in pools, rivers, lochs, or anywhere), travelling and being mum to 2 wonderful children.
