Professor Anne Nortcliffe is the Dean of Faculty of Arts, Computing and Engineering as member of the University Senior Leadership Team.  Professor of Inclusive Engineering and Technology.

Prior to Anne joining Wrexham University Anne was the Founding Head of Engineering, Technology and Design at Canterbury Christ Church University, a new equity, inclusive and diverse engineering higher education provision.  Anne has industry and academic experience over 30 years of experience in educating the next generation of engineering graduates across all fields of engineering. Anne is an experienced and internationally published researcher and developer of engineering education, passionately working with colleagues and students to develop good practice engineering and computing education.

Winner of Inspiring Women in Construction and Engineering Awards 2022 in the Contribution to Gender Diversity.  Anne was also awarded Winner of Engineering Talent Awards Executive Leader of the Year 2021 for leading on equality, diversity and inclusion in engineering.

Anne is an active leader in engineering and computing education with track record securing funding and completing (internal and external) individual and collaborative research and development education projects across university’s subject areas.   Anne adopts action research methodology to research and developing pedagogical practice in STEAM. Anne has a successful history of disseminating scholarship and research in peer reviewed local, national, international conferences, journals, book chapters, workshops and e-articles and my Google Scholar Profile.  Over last eighteen years Anne has mentored and further developed numerous academics colleagues in education research practices. As the Dean, Anne is leading and working with the Associate Dean for Research and the Faculty executive to develop the faculty REF strategy.  Anne is building the Faculty of Arts, Computing and Engineering capacity and research capability for next REF with potential case studies in STEAM synergies in sustainability.

Anne has over thirty years of academic teaching experience primarily in Post-92 institution in software engineering, process safety, computing enterprise and entrepreneurship, web development, control engineering, professional and employability skills development, engineering practice and principles.

Anne has adopted and lead scholarship research informed approach to researching and developing innovations in learning, teaching and assessment to enhance the student learning and experience.   In particular, researching and developing teaching innovations that have a long-tail effect that enhances student journey in becoming industry enabling progression from classroom to placement to graduate to lifelong employment with added positive impact on student continuation, compilation and degree outcomes.

Anne has adopting and leading the development of “Industry Ready Graduates” approach is to the benefit of all stakeholders students, University, Government, employers public, social and private sector to support the growth of the regional and national economy.
