Catherine Simon
Lecturer in Criminology / Civic Mission Associate Graduate
Catherine is a Lecturer in Criminology at Wrexham University. She earned her BA (Hons) in Criminology and Criminal Justice in 2020 and her MA in Criminology and Criminal Justice in 2022, both from Wrexham University. Her research focuses on the impact of intimate partner violence on children, with a particular emphasis on intergenerational trauma.
Catherine is passionate about community engagement and advocacy. Since 2019, she has been a Civic Mission Ambassador for the TrACE (Trauma and ACEs) Project, where she actively promotes awareness of trauma and adverse childhood experiences. In this role, she trains student advocates and works to incorporate trauma-informed practices within the academic and student community.
In 2024, Catherine completed a Professional Certificate in Teacher Training (PCET), enhancing her educational expertise. Looking ahead, she plans to pursue a PhD to further her research into trauma and its long-term effects, amongst other areas, continuing her commitment to both academic excellence and meaningful community impact.
