Dr Chris Nyamayaro
Post Doctoral Research Assistant in Photonics Technologies
Dr Chris Nyamayaro received a BEng in Aerospace engineering from Swansea University in 2015 and a MSc in Mechanical engineering from the University of Birmingham in 2016. He went on to do his PhD in industry at The Welding Institute (TWI Ltd) with Lancaster University in 2022.
Dr Nyamayaro's PhD was in developing an underwater laser cutting system with capabilities of cutting C-Mn steel infrastructures at a water depth of up to 200 m for decommissioning applications in the oil and gas and nuclear industry.
Chris is currently working on developing a High Power Laser Damage Threshold (HPLDT) testing facility that is being sponsored by the Engineering Enterprise and Optics Center project, which is funded by the North Wales Growth Deal.
