Dr Emma Harrison
Research Impact Manager / Visiting Research Fellow in Psychology
- Room: B55
- Email: Emma.Harrison@wrexham.ac.uk
I started working at Wrexham University in 2021 as a Research Impact Manager, after working as a Research Officer at Bangor University's Public Health Collaborating Unit in Wrexham with Public Health Wales.
Before that, I completed a Postdoc at Keele University on teaching innovations after finishing my PhD in 2019 with a thesis titled, 'Exploring student victimisation and wellbeing in the UK higher education context'.
During my three-year PhD, I was employed as a Research Assistant on various psychology and education projects alongside my role as a Digital Ambassador within Keele Student Services.
I am also a Visiting Research Fellow in Psychology and am actively involved in research. My research interests are higher education policy, wellbeing, bullying, trauma, abuse, neurodiversity, and developmental, social, and counselling psychology. I am currently collaborating with a colleague at Keele University on a project exploring university students' perceptions of anti-bullying policies, alongside neurodivergent staff support in higher education. I am also collaborating with a colleague from UCLan and various counselling practitioners on a project about GSRD/LGBT counsellors in training.
I am a member of the LGBT+ Staff Network, the Race Equality Charter group, the Researcher Development Concordat working group, and the upcoming Neurodiversity Staff Network.
I work with a fantastic team in the Research Office and help with staff development, work on research content, social media, and blog pieces to communicate our researchers' amazing work and help colleagues predominantly within the Faculty of Social and Life Sciences (FSLS) to realise the potential real-world impact of their excellent work. Leading up to REF2029, I am aiding academics in developing outputs and impact case studies in FSLS.
