Dr. Omprakash Muthusamy joined Wrexham University as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the Optic Technology Centre, St. Asaph campus, in June 2024. He completed his M.Sc. in Materials Science at Anna University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He then pursued a Ph.D. in thermoelectrics at Shizuoka University, Japan.

He held several postdoctoral positions in Japan at institutions such as Shizuoka University, Toyota Technological Institute, and Tokyo Metropolitan University. His research primarily focused on enhancing the thermoelectric performance of Si-Ge alloys and 2D materials. He has published several articles, including collaborations with other researchers. With extensive experience in various experimental techniques, he has worked on crystal growth, Si-Ge nanopowder synthesis, and Si-Ge thin film deposition through MBE and PVD.

Additionally, Dr. Omprakash Muthusamy spent two years at ASM International, a semiconductor company in Japan, specializing in Plasma Enhanced Atomic Layer Deposition (PEALD) and Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) for metal oxide and dielectric coatings. His current research focuses on optical coatings, including anti-reflection (AR) coatings, high-reflection (HR) coatings, beam splitters, notch filters, low-pass filters, and long-pass filters, among others.
