Dr Sharon Wheeler

Senior Lecturer in Public Health and Wellbeing

Sharon joined Wrexham University in 2019, having previously worked at Edge Hill University and York St John University. She was awarded her PhD from the University of Chester in 2013 having also completed her MSc and BSc at there between 2006 and 2010. She currently leads the postgraduate programmes for the Health and Wellbeing area, and delivers a short course on Empowered Compassionate Practice (ECP) that was developed based on her research on compassion within the health and care sector.

Sharon is particularly interested in 'leadership for wellbeing' - leading with personal wellbeing to create systems of wellbeing that protect and promote the wellbeing of people and planet. She draws primarily from sociology and psychology to understand the human mind and behaviour and how these related to health, mental health and wellbeing.
