Shaun Corkhill
Senior Lecturer in Paramedic Science
Shaun Corkhill is a senior lecturer at Wrexham University with a distinguished career in paramedic science, combining 15 years of clinical experience with a transition to higher education in August 2023. Shaun is deeply committed to advancing healthcare education through the integration of cutting-edge technologies and innovative teaching practices.
Shaun holds two Postgraduate Certificates (PGCerts)—one in Primary Education and another in Higher Education Institutions (HEI)—and serves as both the Simulation Lead and Admissions Lead for the paramedic team at Wrexham University. He is also an active member of the Immersive Technologies Group, where he contributes to the development and implementation of advanced teaching tools and simulations designed to enhance student learning. Currently, Shaun plays a key role in delivering several modules within the Paramedic Degree Program, including Expanded Paramedic Assessment and Management (PAR504), Investigating Life Sciences (PAR601), and Applied Life Sciences (PAR501). His teaching emphasizes the practical application of theoretical knowledge, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the challenges of pre-hospital and community-based healthcare.
Specialising in simulation-based education, Shaun is known for designing engaging and realistic OSCEs (Objective Structured Clinical Examinations) and case studies that reflect the complexities of modern paramedic practice. As Admissions Lead, he is dedicated to attracting and supporting a diverse cohort of students, fostering an inclusive and dynamic learning environment. Shaun’s contributions to healthcare education extend beyond the classroom, where he actively engages in curriculum development, research, and mentorship.
He is currently seeking master’s-level opportunities that combine his interests in education, paramedic practice, leadership, and advancing technologies to further enhance his professional expertise and impact.
Outside of work, Shaun enjoys spending time with his family, exploring music, rowing, and reading, reflecting his commitment to a well-rounded and fulfilling lifestyle.
