Post-Doctoral Researcher - Community Open Map Platform

Tristian Evans is a researcher at the School of Arts, Wrexham University, working on the cultural mapping strand of the Public Map Platform project. His research interests and creative practice examines interactions between the arts, often encompassing themes surrounding the environment and wellbeing. Trained as a pianist and musicologist, and a Fellow of the Royal Schools of Music, he has developed expertise in various analytical research methods, including multimedia analysis, and has presented and published his findings internationally.

Having co-worked on numerous academic projects involving aspects of Welsh culture, his research and creative interests have offered a wide range of opportunities to work with children, young people and community groups on educational and artistic activities. Creative collaborations include film and sound projects and engagements with the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, Bangor University, Pontio Art Centre, the National Library of Wales and the British Library’s Unlocking our Sound Heritage project.

He is currently researching the cultural heritage of the isle of Anglesey as part of his research activities for the Public Map Platform, in addition to observing the work of creative practitioners as they engage with children and young people in schools and communities on the island.
