Sam Hale
Independent governor

Sam read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Lancaster University before beginning his career in banking at the Co-operative Bank. Sam currently heads the Treasury function at a start-up bank based in Wrexham, responsible for manging the firm’s prudential risks and investment portfolio.
Sam also serves as a Non-Executive Director for a credit union, applying his expertise in banking asset and liability management to ensure the union’s financial health. His governance experience extends to various charities and educational institutions, including his past role on the Co-operative Group's National Members Committee, the British Youth Council and several school governing bodies.
Sam is qualified as a corporate treasurer (CertT), banking treasurer (CertBALM) and holds a Masters in Banking and Finance from Keele University. Originating from Stoke-on-Trent, Sam feels a strong connection to Wrexham and is passionate about fostering robust 'town and gown' relationships to enhance the university's positive impact on the local community.
