Debbie Alumni Student

From battling cancer during her studies to training as a teacher, Debbie’s journey is one of resilience. While studying Criminology with us, she underwent multiple rounds of treatment, supported by her lecturers and the wider university. Debbie completed her degree and is now training as a teacher, channelling her experience into helping others.

Harry chose Wrexham University for its strong links with the Special Constabulary and the opportunity to gain real policing experience. The supportive, close‑knit learning environment helped him prepare for a career in the profession. After graduating, he became a Police Constable, applying the skills and experience he gained at Wrexham to progress in his career.

While running her own small photography business, Katie joined Wrexham University to push her creativity further. The supportive tutors and collaborative environment helped her grow in confidence and refine her practice. Since then, she’s gone on to achieve national recognition, including winning the Studio Portrait Photographer of the Year award.

After facing early barriers in women’s football and time away from sport due to illness, Laura rebuilt her path at Wrexham University. With supportive teaching and new opportunities, she found her place in the industry. She now works for the FAW as a Girls’ Participation Coordinator, inspiring girls across Wales to get into football.
