What you will study
- Strength Training Exercise Physiology Principles (Core): This module will cover the underpinning physiology of strength and conditioning related practices and expose students to different physiological testing protocols.
- Performance Biomechanics (Core): This module aims to provide students with the opportunity to investigate advanced data collection principles through the application of underpinning biomechanical principles. This process will allow the student, through the collection and interpretation of both 2D and 3D motion analysis, to understand what limits and promotes sporting performance.
- Entrepreneurship in Sport (Core): This module aims to provide students with the skills necessary to work as an effective multi-disciplinary team to provide sport and exercise science support to teams/athletes and or patients. It will provide knowledge on how students can apply research to practice as well as building relevant employability and entrepreneurial skills.
- Applied Strength & Conditioning Principles 1 – Performance Measurement (Option): This module will expose students to a variety of contemporary testing and profiling strategies typically utilised within applied S&C. Students will also apply a range of monitoring strategies typically used within S&C practice allowing them to facilitate the development of detailed needs analyses for a variety of sport and athletes.
- Applied Strength & Conditioning Principles 2 – Programme Design & Implementation (Option): This module will allow students to develop an in-depth understanding of periodisation and underpinning principles. It will also expose students to different training modalities (e.g., strength, power, speed etc.)
- Effective Leadership Strategies in Sport and Exercise Coaching (Core): This module aims to develop both theoretical frameworks and applied understanding of leadership within the sport and exercise science environment. It will provide the students with the opportunity to gain an understanding of the nature of organisations within the field and address challenges and key discussions in the applied world of sport and exercise.
- Psychological Provision in Sport and Exercise (Core): This module provides advanced skills in understanding the ethical considerations when working with individuals in the environment and allows students to gain a thorough understanding of organisational effectiveness with individuals in sport and exercise.
- Dissertation (Core): This module enhances students ability to conduct independent research and encourages critical evaluation of existing literature and methods fostering the ability to identify gaps, contradictions and areas for further investigation.
- Research Practice and Examination in the Sport & Exercise Sciences (Core): This module provides students with an advanced understanding of the key principles and theoretical foundations of various research methodologies used in sport and equip students with practical skills in designing, conducting, and analysing research, including quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods approaches.
