Date: Tuesday, June 4, 2024
The vibrant creativity of Wrexham University students is on full display at a new pop-up art show, named Quintesse – a unique exhibition celebrating the artistic achievements of those studying on the institution’s Arts degree courses.
The gallery, located opposite River Island on Eagles Meadow in Wrexham, saw a private opening by Wrexham AFC’s Executive Chairman Humphrey Ker, providing him “an exclusive opportunity to experience the future of art firsthand”.
Featuring a diverse array of artworks including paintings, sculptures, digital media, and mixed-media installations, the pop-up art gallery is set to transform the Eagles Meadow unit into a dynamic space of inspiration and innovation.
The exhibited pieces, created by students from Wrexham University reflect a broad spectrum of themes and techniques, highlighting the exceptional skill and imagination of the artists.
Steve Jarvis, Principal Lecturer in Art and Design at the University, said: “As the Principal Lecturer at Wrexham School of Art, I am immensely proud of our students and their extraordinary achievements showcased in the Quintesse degree show.
“This exhibition not only highlights the remarkable talent and creativity of our artists but also demonstrates their dedication and hard work over the years. It is a privilege to see their diverse and innovative works transform the space at Eagles Meadow into a vibrant hub of artistic expression.
“We are thrilled to share this unique experience with the community and look forward to engaging with visitors and receiving their valuable feedback. This event truly underscores the importance of promoting artistic talent and supporting the next generation of creators.”
Josh Price, Eagles Meadow Centre Manager, said: “We are really excited to be able to showcase the works from Wrexham University students.
“This is another great example of how Eagles Meadow can be a true community asset, collaborating with excellent initiatives to achieve more together. The show is the culmination of years of work for the students and months of planning and building with the Wrexham University team and deserves to be housed in the best space possible.”
Opening times for the exhibition are: 10am-4pm Monday – Saturday until this Saturday, June 8.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the artists and discuss their work, providing a platform for young creators to engage with the public and receive valuable feedback.
