Thriving in Practice
The notion of thriving is pivotal for students and healthcare professionals, with service delivery demanding an entrepreneurial mindset and resilience to sustain longevity in practice.
Research undertaken by Dr Liz Cade established the importance of developing a sense of identity and competence through resilience, entrepreneurship and individual difference for occupational therapy students in role-emerging placements.
The findings can be broadened out into the student learning journey throughout their period of study and how these constructs can be strengthened through a developmental model.
Healthcare Heroes Public Lecture
Based on Liz’s PhD research, Liz discussed how, in order to sustain the demands placed on practitioners, health education providers must nurture skill-based competence, professional identity, an entrepreneurial mindset, and resilience in students as they progress through their training.
