Innovation Funding invites proposals for innovative research projects in the fields of Composites, Renewable Energies, Power Systems, Electrical Drives, Antennas, and Robotics. This funding aims to support new research and contribute to the advancement of these key areas.
Key Areas of Focus:
- Composites: Development of advanced materials, structural composites, or sustainable composite materials. Development of energy-efficient manufacturing processes. End-of-life considerations and recycling. Life cycle analysis.
- Renewable Energies: Innovative technologies to improve energy efficiency, harness renewable resources, and reduce environmental impact. Hydrogen technologies.
- Power Systems: Research aimed at enhancing power generation, storage, and distribution systems, including smart grid solutions.
- Electrical Drives: Advances in electric motors, drives, and controllers that support a transition to electrification in transportation, manufacturing, and other sectors.
- Antennas: Cutting-edge research in antenna design, optimisation, and materials to support improved communication and wireless technologies.
- Robotics: Exploration of new robotic systems, AI-based robotic control, autonomous systems, and human-robot interaction.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Open to Wrexham University academics and researchers with a focus on innovation and new knowledge generation.
- The research must directly align with one or more of the listed areas of focus.
- Projects must have clear, measurable outcomes that can be used to further advance the field.
- The lead must be a member of staff at the University, but student co-leads and industry partners are strongly encouraged.
