The Research Travel Grant is designed to support short, targeted travel that directly contributes to the development of an existing research project or idea.

The grant can be used to facilitate research data collection, for example, through fieldwork, site visits, experiments, or participant engagement, as well as to initiate or explore potential research collaborations. These collaborations may lead to future joint projects, funding applications, or knowledge exchange opportunities.

Additionally, the funding may be used to cover participant travel costs, where this is necessary to enable their involvement in research activities such as interviews, focus groups, or co-creation sessions. Overall, the grant aims to enable meaningful early-stage research activity and relationship-building that would otherwise be difficult to pursue due to limited resources.

Eligibility Criteria

• Open to academic staff, researchers, and research students at Wrexham University
• Travel must be directly related to an existing research idea or project
• Only one application per academic year is permitted
• This funding cannot be used in conjunction with the Conference Contribution Award and cannot support travel solely for conference attendance or presentations.
