Submission Checklist
Before submitting your article, please ensure:
☐ Manuscript follows Wrexham Nexus author guidelines
☐ Word count within limits
☐ Abstract included (bilingual English and Welsh if possible)
☐ Keywords provided
☐ References formatted correctly
☐ Figures and tables labelled and cited in text
☐ Ethical approval statements included (if relevant)
☐ Author details completed (affiliations, contact)
☐ Permission obtained for any copyrighted material
☐ Manuscript file is in an acceptable format (e.g. Word doc)
☐ Submission includes any supplementary files
☐ Cover letter addressed to the editorial team
☐ Plagiarism check done (recommended)
Welcome to Wrexham Nexus, Wrexham University’s new in-house peer-reviewed research journal. We’re excited to offer you the opportunity to publish your work and contribute to our academic community!
What We Publish
We accept the following types of contributions:
- Research Articles: Full papers presenting original research.
- Research Reports: Shorter, focused reports on specific findings.
- Research Notes: Brief pieces on early-stage or ongoing research.
- Book Reviews: Critical reviews of recent books relevant to your field.
Who Can Submit?
- Current students and staff of Wrexham University.
- Your research must have been conducted under the auspices of Wrexham University.
Language
- Articles may be submitted in English or Welsh.
- All published papers will include abstracts in both languages.
Manuscript Preparation
Length:
- Research articles: up to 6,000 words (including references).
- Research reports and notes: up to 3,000 words.
- Book reviews: up to 1,000 words.
Format:
- Use clear, concise language.
- Double-space your manuscript.
- Use a standard font like Aptos or Arial (12 pt).
- Number pages consecutively.
- Include a title, author name(s), and affiliation(s).
- Provide a 150–250 word abstract in the language of submission.
References:
- Use a consistent citation style (e.g., APA, Harvard).
- List all sources cited in the text.
Tables & Figures:
- Include as separate files or clearly embedded.
- Provide clear captions.
Submission Process
- Submit your manuscript as a Word document (.doc or .docx) via email to nexus@wrexham.ac.uk.
- Include a brief cover letter with your submission explaining the type of paper and confirming you meet the eligibility criteria.
- You will receive confirmation once your submission is received.
Peer Review
- All submissions undergo double-blind peer review.
- Reviewers provide constructive feedback to help improve your paper.
- Typical review time: up to 3 weeks.
- You may be asked to revise your paper before final acceptance.
Important Dates
- Submission deadline: Friday 19 December 2025
- Notification of review outcome: Friday 27 February 2026
- Final decisions: Friday 3 April 2026
- Publication date: Friday 29 May 2026
