Dr Christopher Earing
Senior Lecturer in Post-Registration
Chris works as a Clinical Scientist within Respiratory and Sleep Physiology within Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board where he undertakes Cardio-Pulmonary Exercise testing in Ysbyty Gwynedd on a weekly basis.
During this role, Chris conducts full lung function testing, cardio-pulmonary exercise testing, sleep apnoea screening diagnostics and CPAP provision for patients.
Chris has taught at ARTP advanced lung function courses and has chaired conferences. Chris lectures on the MSc Professional Practice in Health topics including compassionate leadership, service improvement and Public Health. Chris was a previous Welsh Clinical Leadership Fellow.
His main research interests are Exercise Physiology, in particular alternations in perception of fatigue and ventilatory control with his previous PhD investigating ventilatory response to hypercapnia and hypoxia in clinical patients with obstructive sleep apnoea. Inflammatory markers were assessed including the endocannabinoid system, respiratory muscle fatigue and heart rate and baroreflex sensitivity. Chris enjoys being out and about in the great outdoors.
