David Elcock
Director of Finance
David joined Wrexham Glyndŵr University in March 2016 as Finance Director. He is responsible for all of the strategic financial aspects of the University. His key role is the allocation and management of resources, providing strategic and financial guidance to ensure that the University’s aims and objectives are met and developing all necessary policies and procedures to ensure the sound financial management and control of the University’s activities.
David is a qualified accountant and member of both the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy. His early career was in local government before joining a nationally recognised consultancy firm ending up on the Company Board as Director of Operations. This was followed by a five year spell as Finance Director within a technology and research private limited company, prior to joining the University.
Now the Executive Director of Finance with responsibility for the University’s Legal and Procurement services alongside the Finance function. His skills centre on finance and operations within both the public and private sectors. He has an extensive knowledge of the governance and control requirements of the public sector, complemented by his private sector business acumen and consulting experience.
