Dr Jixin Yang
Reader in Materials Chemistry
Dr Jixin Yang received his BSc degree from Nanjing University (Nanjing, China) in 1996 and his MSc from Chinese Academy of Sciences (Beijing, China) in 1999. He came to the UK to study his PhD at the School of Chemistry, University of Nottingham. After graduating in 2003 he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at Nottingham for another 6 years, focusing on the area of materials chemistry.
Dr Yang took the lectureship position at Wrexham University in 2009 and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2011 and Reader in Materials Chemistry in 2022. Presently, he is actively involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research in materials science.
Dr Yang has published over 60 research articles in peer-reviewed journals, with in excess of 1,550 citations. He is a Chartered Chemist (CChem), a Chartered Science Teacher (CSciTeach), a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC) and a Senior Fellow of Advance HE (SFHEA).
Dr Yang is involved in a number of academic committees at the University. He is the panel assessor for the Royal Society of Chemistry where his role is to evaluate the applications and revalidations of Chartered Scientist (CSci) and Charted Science Teacher (CSciTeach). He is a member of the RSC North Wales Local Section Committee, representing Wrexham University.
Dr Yang has long-term research collaborations with other UK and overseas HEIs. He works closely with industry and has been involved in a number of knowledge transfer partnership (KTP) projects. In 2020 he was shortlisted for Best Lecturer of the Faculty of Arts, Science and Technology in the Student Union Awards. In 2021 he was the winner of the same award. In 2022 he received the commendation in the volunteering category of the University Above & Beyond Staff Awards.
Research Interests
Metal nanoparticles, semiconductor materials, polymer nanocomposites, hydrocolloids, instrumental analysis, supercritical fluids and green chemistry.
