Lisa Sheriff

Before joining the Education Team at Wrexham University, Lisa was a primary school practitioner in a large urban school. Teaching within a diverse learning environment, where inclusion and innovation was celebrated.
During this time Lisa was involved with the ‘Creative Schools’ project Wales, using digital media to engage and challenge learners; incorporating innovative opportunities for delivering of the components of the 2022 Curriculum for Wales during its drafting stages.
Lisa continues to work with Wrexham SACRE, where she was a former chairperson. In 2019, she was invited to join the Welsh Assembly Government working party as a result of her involvement in Religious Education, in preparing for the 2022 Curriculum for Wales.
While working full-time Lisa completed her Masters at Glyndwr University and joined the Educational Workforce Council as an External Verifier mentoring and coaching Newly Qualified Teachers (NQT’s) in Wales, a role she continues to fulfil. She is engaged in doctoral study and has a research interest in the pedagogy of interdisciplinary and cross curricular and outdoor learning.
Since joining Wrexham University she has worked as an early career research exploring outdoor learning, and the concept of 'cynefin' in primary classrooms in Wales.
While not working in education, Lisa enjoys supporting young people in the performing arts and opportunities for outdoor and physical activities. She enjoys time outdoors walking and gardening and travelling with her family.
