Picture of staff member

Dr Zoey Jones is a Lecturer in the Social Work Department at Wrexham University and a registered social worker. She completed her PhD in 2025, which explored how child protection social workers understand, experience, and manage intuition in practice, with particular attention to its lived, embodied, and emotional dimensions within organisational contexts.

Drawing on her frontline experience, Zoey’s research explores how intuition is experienced and understood in social work practice, with the aim of informing professional decision-making and supporting improved outcomes for children and families. Her work bridges practice and theory, contributing to social work education, training, and professional development.

Before entering academia, Zoey had an extensive career as a registered social worker, working primarily in child protection and children and families teams. Her professional experience also includes roles within wider social care and mentoring within the education sector.
