What were you doing before coming to Wrexham University?
Before starting postgraduate study, I studied BSc Hons Psychology and graduated with a first class degree.
What attracted you to Wrexham University?
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at University and wanted to continue learning in order to assist others to fulfil their true potential, so I chose to study for a PGCE.
What did you enjoy most about your course?
I have learned a lot from doing the PGCE, one of the most significant being the importance of differentiation and inclusive practice, because learners come from many different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, bringing with them diverse learning needs and styles. I have also learned how to recognise and support potential learners who may have additional learning needs (ALN). This has reinforced my belief in the importance of getting to know learners and build a good rapport with them to be supportive and inclusive.
What makes this course special for me is the outstanding lecturers and mentors I have been blessed with. They are all very understanding, knowledgeable and approachable people who happen to make learning fun and enjoyable.
What was the support like?
I was pleasantly surprised at how supportive peers have been of each other’s success and how much this course has helped me to develop my confidence and self-efficacy.
How did your time at Wrexham University prepare you for the world of work?
I now feel comfortable standing in front of students to deliver teaching sessions (something I thought I was never capable of doing!)
After earning my degree I would very much like to teach in higher education, and would like to continue learning and hope to accomplish the QTLS whilst teaching.
