We have information desks at our Plas Coch, Northop and St Asaph sites. We are open from 10-4 Monday to Friday, during Term Time, and 10-2 Monday to Friday, during Non-Term Time. We are there for you to pop in and speak to us during these times.

Target Connect 

Students of Wrexham University can also register for support on Target Connect. Each of our services have their own partition, which is the one stop shop for any student support needs. Students can access each partition to find out more about a service and how they can offer help or support. Click the link to access Target Connect.

We have also created a Student Life partition which is open for current students, applicants and third parties who may require more information about the student experience. Examples of topics which are covered on the Student Life partition include:

  • Information for Parents and Carers
  • How will I be assessed at University?
  • Information about placements for healthcare students
  • How to get a Council Tax Exemption letter 

And many more! Enrolled students can log on to the Student Life partition using their University login details. New students, applicants or parents and carers will be asked to complete a quick registration before they access the system. Teams within Student and Campus Life:

Counselling and Mental Health

Our Counselling and Mental Health team offer:

  • 1:1 sessions with a trained Counsellor or Mental Health Adviser who can support you to build coping strategies to face challenges in your life
  • Help you to understand your mental health and how University life can affect this
  • Referral to external specialist services, when suitable
  • A space to talk through issues and offer general guidance

Current students at Wrexham University can access Talk Campus which is an online peer to peer mental health and wellbeing support network. The platform allows you to be anonymous while accessing support from peers across the globe in a safe, effective and encouraging environment. You can also talk directly to a professional if you feel in crisis via our 24/7 multi-language helpline where you can engage with trained clinicians. Download the Talk Campus app and select sign up on the home page of the app. Use your University email address to sign in and access for free. 

Inclusion Services and Disability Support

Our Inclusion service offers: 

  • 1:1 specialist support for any students who have a long term medical condition, disability, mental health condition, or specific learning difference
  • Support and advice on applying for Disabled Students' Allowance
  • Either internal or external specialist advisors to support you with your studies, if provided by Disabled Student Allowance
  • Specialist mentors for additional support in University, where eligible

Student Wellbeing

Our Student Wellbeing team consists of Student Support Navigators who offer: 

  • 1:1 support to students experiencing both personal and academic issues impacting their wellbeing
  • Help you to overcome any barriers you are facing with you education
  • Help you explore your situation in order to identify areas in which you can be supported and a plan will then be produced collaboratively to move forward
  • Support within this plan could come from internal services at the University, external organisations in the community or from academics to ensure your individual needs are being met
  • Appointment times are flexible and can be held via Teams, over the telephone or on campus

Funding and Money Advice 

Our Funding and Money Advice Team (FMAT) provide tailored advice and guidance to students who need support managing their finances. FMAT also provide information to help students make informed decisions when managing their money, as it can be a challenge. The Team aims to provide information, advice, and support on a wide range of issues relating to University finances. FMAT can:

  • Advise on funding opportunities prior to embarking on study
  • Help maximise funding resources whilst at University, this webpage has some useful information on how to maximise your student loan
  • Ensure the correct amount of funding is being received
  • Investigate delays with Student Finance
  • Advise on additional support available, including scholarships, grants, and bursaries. You can find more information on the bursaries available at the University here
  • Offer bespoke budgeting advice to help you manage your money
  • Offer direct assistance (where possible) when students find themselves in financial difficulty
  • Advise on the implications of course suspension, change or withdrawal
  • Advise on what to do when unforeseen circumstances affect your studies

Our Careers and Employability Service offer lifelong support for current students and graduates of Wrexham University. This service can offer you:

  • 24/7 access to qualified HE Careers Advisers and HE employability specialists
  • 1:1 career advice and guidance appointments with Careers Advisers who can provide career planning support and guidance to create CVs, cover letters, and personal statements
  • An active board to source work and volunteering opportunities
  • An events calendar to book onto extracurricular events to help improve your employability
  • 24/7 access to qualified HE Careers Advisers and HE employability specialists
  • 1:1 career advice and guidance appointments with Careers Advisers who can provide career planning support and guidance to create CVs, cover letters, and personal statements
  • An active board to source work and volunteering opportunities
  • An events calendar to book onto extracurricular events to help improve your employability
  • Self-directed careers education tools and learning resources to develop skills and confidence, linked to the University’s Skills Framework.
  • In-curricular careers education sessions linked to your programme of study

Chaplaincy 

Our Volunteer Chaplains are here to support you and to help you talk through whatever is on your mind, as well as to generally promote interest in the more spiritual side of life. The team can:

  • Provide 1-2-1 support with any issues that you may want to reflect on or be there for you if you just want a listening ear
  • Provide a quiet space on the Plas Coch campus on the second floor of the Library and Student Support Centre. This is an space for students of all faiths and none to use when they want time and space to relax away from the hustle and bustle of campus
  • Provide prayer facilities for students and staff of all faiths to utilise. The Multi-Faith Space is on the second floor of the Library and Student Support Centre and is open for use without any need to prebook
