Amy Anglesea
Students’ Union President
Appointed July 2022
Amy is the newly elected Student Union President for 2023-24. Amy served as SU Vice-President during the academic year 2022-23 and has been a Student Governor since 2021. Amy has been an active member of the student body and has worked on student voice projects since starting as a student here in 2019. Amy graduated from Wrexham’s franchised partner, St Mary’s University, Twickenham in 2022 with BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS.
Throughout Amy’s time working in the Students’ Union, she has been Student Council Chair 2020-2022, NUS Wales Delegate 2019, 2022 & 2023, Netball Captain 2021-22, and Women’s Officer 2019-2020. During her time in office as VP, Amy achieved the following outcomes: planned and hosted Varsity replacement ‘Glyndwr Games’ (with talks still being had to re-introduce the full Varsity experience this academic year), secured £5k funding from the University to develop our sports teams & societies, worked on the Campus 2025 project, created SU Fresher’s Reps, worked with Student Ambassadors to deliver more up to date information on the Student Union services, proposed a policy to NUS Wales Conference delegates to review the delegate entitlement to have the voice of North Wales students heard more (which was approved), proposed a successful bid to host the NUS Y Talwrn at Wrexham University 2023, and has been selected by NUS Charity to review its Officer Handbooks ahead of the next academic year.
This year, Amy aims to work collaboratively with the University to hold a student consultation at the Graduation 2024 ceremony about the new changes, host different cultural events each month in the SU to engage our International student community more, and work with the University Funding & Money Team and our SU Help Yourshelf campaign, to create student budget-friendly meal plans and resources such as videos and recipe cards, in order to help students manage their money better during the cost-of-living-crisis.
Amy is looking forward to continuing her work here at Wrexham University and representing the Student Body for another year.
