Deputy Vice-Chancellor

Professor Paul Davies joined the University 1st September 2024, from his position as Dean of the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Science at the University of South Wales, where he has been responsible for the strategic direction and development of a large Faculty, comprising eight departments, covering all the science, engineering, technology and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.

Prior to his career at the University of South Wales, Paul worked in the construction industry, primarily on large-scale infrastructure developments, in both the public and private sectors. He has also been involved with various projects across the UK and in North Africa and the Far East. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (FICE), a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and he holds a PhD in Advanced Structural Analysis. His research interests are primarily in the field of structural strengthening and enhancement, utilising advanced composite materials.

Upon being appointed, Professor Davies said: “I am delighted to have been appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Wrexham University and I look forward to working with Professor Yates and the rest of the team, supporting our staff and students, at this exciting time in the evolution of the University.”
