The National Eisteddfod, known as the largest cultural festival in Europe, celebrates Welsh language, arts, and heritage. First established in 1861, the annual event has evolved into a modern festival that showcases Wales’ historical roots.

Hosted in Wrexham from August 2-9, 2025, it is a really exciting time for the city. With the combination of Wrexham’s dynamic community spirit and the Eisteddfod’s rich traditions and cultural vibrancy, the festival is set to offer a truly unique and memorable experience for all.

What makes the National Eisteddfod so special?

University involvement

This includes supporting fundraising efforts, serving as the headline sponsor for Maes B - the Welsh-medium music festival for young people - and offering a 10-week ‘Welcoming the National Eisteddfod’ short course.
