A student’s perspective on WU’s student accommodation

Students walking outside Wrexham Village accommodation

Wrexham Student Village (WSV) is the onsite accommodation located on Wrexham University’s Plas Coch campus. The Village is made up of just over 300 rooms, which house students at the heart of the University. There are three room types on offer: single rooms, single plus rooms (slightly larger room with a bigger bed), and double rooms. All rooms at WSV are modern and en-suite, which adds to the top-quality experience whilst staying here. What’s more, due to WSV’s location, some rooms have a view of the Hollywood famous Wrexham A.F.C pitch!

In this blog, I will share some of my favourite things about the accommodation at Wrexham University.

WSV is considered one of the most affordable places for students to live in the UK

I have found the rent at Wrexham Student Village to be fair and affordable. The accommodation team offer multiple payment plans for rent payments and there are various bursaries available should you require further support. You can check out the most updated accommodation prices by visiting the accommodation webpage.

Campus-based accommodation

WSV is a campus-based accommodation, meaning that it is extremely close to all teaching and study spaces here at the Plas Coch campus. There are also various transport links to the Northop and St Asaph campuses.

Personally, I have found the location to be particularly great because it can take literally two minutes from leaving your room to being sat in your classroom. Being late can no longer be used as an excuse!

Close proximity to the city centre and retail parks

WSV is only about a ten-minute walk from the city centre which leads it to be in the perfect position for shopping trips and for nights out as well. There are also various retail parks less than a five-minute walk away, which include supermarkets such as Aldi, Farmfoods, M&S, and Sainsburys – giving you a great selection of shops to complete your food shop.

In addition to this, WSV is in a prime location for travelling to the rest of the country due to it being next door to Wrexham General train station. From there, you can travel easily to nearby cities including Chester, Liverpool, and Manchester to the East, the rugged beauty of Snowdonia to the West, and great beaches along the stunning coastline to the North.

An amazing community

The great thing about life at WSV is that you instantly feel included and part of a community. When you first move into WSV you might not know anyone else, but that feeling of being alone soon changes. You really do start to feel part of a great community filled with people from a large variety of backgrounds, ages and life experiences.

Want to see it for yourself?
