Sign up and save: our go-to student guide for shopping discounts
Going to university throws you into having to live independently, potentially for the first time.
A key component to everyday student life is that sometimes you need to deal with the boring stuff like making sure you get fed.
We have put together a directory of supermarket and shopping discounts with some instructions to make your life a little easier and your wallet a little happier:
As a student at Wrexham Glyndwr University, you have access to some great deals at Glyn’s Bar on Wrexham campus. There’s Feel Good Fridays where you can grab a £2 pint or bottle and Mighty Mondays where paninis are only £2. This is part of our 2 Deal or Not 2 Deal offer, just one of the many promo prices for on campus food drink.
Make sure to check out our cost of living page on our website if you are wanting any more information on Wrexham specific financial advice.
Marks and Spencer
Soon to be coming to Plas Coch!
M&S have their “sparks” card loyalty scheme where you can either pick up a card in store or access your card via the Marks and Spencer app. To use your “sparks” card you can either sign into your account when you shop online or scan your card in-store.
Each time you shop you collect “sparks”. Customers get 10 sparks every time they shop, another 10 for each £1 spent, 25 for every review they write, and 50 every time they “shwop” (bring a pre-loved item of clothing into an M&S store so it can be resold, reused or recycled). The more sparks you earn, the more is donated to your chosen charity.
If you sign up, one customer per store gets their shopping for free every week, and scanning your card at the checkout enters you into a draw to win £2,000 of M&S online gift cards. Sparks customers are sometimes offered a free treat such as Percy Pig sweets, a box of chocolates or a candle as well. Make sure to check out their website for more information about how you can sign up.
Only a 5-minute walk away from campus!
Sainsbury’s shoppers can sign up for a Nectar card (also available as an app) and earn one point for every £1 you spend in-store or online and for every litre of fuel bought. Nectar points can be spent in blocks of 500 (worth £2.50) when shopping at a Sainsbury’s store.
Nectar users are also given special offers to earn more points on specific items tailored to their buying habits. Something to note is that there are a number of items that Sainsbury’s shoppers can’t collect Nectar points on, including spirits and tobacco.
Asda rewards is a loyalty scheme you can sign up to where shoppers can earn vouchers to take some money off your weekly food shop. Make sure to sign up and start getting your rewards.
Co-op membership costs £1 to join and you receive personalised offers every week. Sign up and select your offers today.
The rewards app for Lidl app sends through new coupons every Thursday, plus exclusive discounts and prizes.
The Tesco clubcard is great for in-store clubcard prices, vouchers and offers. You get one point for every £1 you spend on groceries, or for every £2 you spend on petrol.
