Mimica is an award-winning, UK-based company dedicated to reducing food waste caused by inaccurate expiry dates. Their flagship product, Bump, is a patented tag or cap integrated into food and beverage packaging, changing to a bumpy texture when the product spoils, based on real-time temperature conditions.

Seeking expertise in natural polymers and rheology, Mimica collaborated with Wrexham University in 2019, working with Professor Peter Williams and external researcher Dr. Sally Burr. Utilising Wrexham's Applied Science Lab, Mimica leveraged resources such as the rheometer to develop their plant-based gel technology, now a key component of their innovative freshness indicators.
