Are you fascinated by some of the most notorious crimes in history? If you want to learn more about how certain crimes have changed the criminal justice landscape, this short course is for you.

  • This course will look at the heart of contemporary debates about the operation of criminal justice in England and Wales.
  • The course will also allow you to identify groups who may be vulnerable to crime and victimisation.

What you will study

You will study nine notorious crimes and criminals, such as: Myra Hindley, Timothy Evans, John Worboys and more.

The course will look at how these notorious cases have framed debates about criminal justice. You will gain an understanding of how crimes may be investigated and of the possible aims of sentencing.

The booking for this course closes a week before the course start date. 

Please note that you must be age 18+ in order to book a place on this course. This is due to the sensitive and often graphic nature of the crimes covered. 

 

Teaching & Assessment

The assessment will consist of students completing written online contributions each week.

All learning content will be uploaded to Moodle on the Monday of each week. Students can work through this content in the own time, and at their own pace.

At the end of the short course, those wanting to further their studies with Wrexham University will be provided with the opportunity to attend campus for a ‘next steps to study’ session. This is an optional session.
