Why choose this course?
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Counselling and Psychotherapy has undergone significant changes in the way practitioners work with clients and in supervision, moving from predominately face-to-face contact, to now offering a range of online and telephone options.
The Online and Telephone Counselling course at Wrexham University aims to give participants the theoretical understanding of working in these different formats as well as the practical skills required.
Key course features
- The course will be delivered as two 20 credit modules at level 6. There is 30 tutor contact hours for each module, delivered as a mixture of face to face and online experiential lectures for 10 weeks, covering a range of allied topics. Up to date research in this area will be included in the programme.
- By the end of the course, you will have the skills and abilities required to work with clients both online and by telephone. This course is suitable for those in practice, whether trainees or qualified professionals.

Entry requirements & applying
These modules will be suitable for qualified Counsellors, who are wishing to develop their abilities working with clients through non-face-to-face means.

Teaching & Assessment
The module spec outlines the allocated teaching/self-directed learning. For each module there is 30 hours teaching which is made up of the live seminars, recorded lectures and tutorials. There is also 170 hours guided study which is made up of study tasks, discussion forums, additional reading and student assignment writing.
Each module has 2 assessments- one 2500 written assignment on either ethics or assessments when working online and over the phone. And a second 500 word reflective piece on their experiences working online/phone. The submission dates for these are outlined in the module handbooks which have been uploaded to Moodle.
