Student Procedures
Student Procedures are there to protect every student and the integrity of the qualification they are working for. They ensure students can study safely while securing the standards of our qualifications.
Below are the policies and procedures that students need to be aware of during their time at the University. They will also assist students if they need to address a concern or issue that can’t be remedied immediately by their Course team or the ASK service. Students should refer to the Evidential Requirements Guidance when submitting a claim for any of the procedures discussed below.
As a student, if you are confused about which procedure is applicable to your situation, you can seek independent advice from the SU Advice Service at SUAdvice@wrexham.ac.uk.

Students should always seek advice before appealing, initially from their personal tutor and the SU Advice service on SUAdvice@wrexham.ac.uk.

Academic Integrity
The Academic Integrity Procedure provides the University’s definition of good academic integrity, what constitutes academic misconduct, and the resulting actions that will be taken to investigate misconduct allegations and the possible penalties that may be given where allegations are upheld. This procedure protects the integrity of the University’s qualifications and enables the University to act where it suspects students may have taken unfair means to enhance their performance.
It is the responsibility of all students to ensure that their work adheres with principles of good academic integrity as set out in the Academic Integrity Procedure.

Student Complaints
The University wants every student to have a stimulating, full and enjoyable experience while studying for their qualification. Individuals should always, firstly, try to raise issues directly with their course teams, via Unitu and through the relevant student representatives wherever possible.
If those methods are not suitable for any reason, then the University has a Student Complaints Procedure through which students can complain about any broader aspect of their experience at the University. If you are a student studying at a Partner Provider, you should use the complaints procedure of the partner in the first instance.
Any student engaging with this procedure is recommended to seek advice from the SU Advice team on SUAdvice@wrexham.ac.uk.

Student Conduct
The Student Charter confirms the values and behaviours expected of all students as part of the University community. There are also a series of procedures that exist to protect all members of the University (see below). As a student, if you need to make a report of concern regarding another individual, then these procedures explain how it will be investigated and what the obligations upon each party are - including telling the truth and engaging with the relevant process.
Please be aware that as a student you can meet with members of the Casework team to make a report, hear about the investigation process, and then decide if you wish to proceed. Making a report does not mean the University will go ahead with an investigation if you do not wish us to. If you are alleged to have breached one of these procedures, then the matter will be investigated appropriately, and you will be given the opportunity to represent your own opinion / actions as part of the process.
Any student engaging with this procedure is recommended to seek advice from the SU Advice team on SUAdvice@wrexham.ac.uk.

Student Engagement
The University has a Student Academic Engagement Policy that sets out our overall expectations. As a student, if you are studying at the University on a visa, you will need to meet specific engagement requirements to ensure your visa remains valid. These requirements are set out in the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) Policy.
Where concerns about attendance are raised by the Programme Team, students will receive communication from the Student Absences Team and where issues continue there is a possibility that students could be withdrawn from the programme.

Suitability for Practice
Students studying on a professional programme have a responsibility to ensure that they meet the professional behaviours required of that programme. Individuals are expected to meet certain standards of behaviour related to character, professional competence and health. As a student, you will be made aware of the professional standards relating to your programme at many stages during your academic journey.
The Suitability for Practice Procedure is in place to handle any concerns about an individual’s ability to meet the professional standards and to ensure their safety and that of other students, members of the public and to maintain public confidence in the profession.
Any student engaging with this procedure is recommended to seek advice from the SU Advice team on SUAdvice@wrexham.ac.uk and their Professional Union if they are a student member.
