Insight into the beliefs, attitudes and behaviours around cannabis use in Wales
Wrexham University staff (Prof. Wulf Livingston, Prof. Iolo Madoc-Jones, and Helena Barlow) have led on a qualitative research project exploring beliefs, attitudes and behaviours around cannabis use in Wales.
The project led by Prof. Livingston was awarded by Public Health Wales, and conducted in partnership with staff from University of Bath. The study involved a focus on qualitative data collected through surveys and interviews, with those actively using cannabis in Wales. It reported on their habits of cannabis use, motivations and rewards from doing such, their perceived concerns with cannabis use, and considerations about possible harm reduction messages. It also explored relationships between cannabis and tobacco use. The project ran between 2023 and 2024.
