Springboard 2024 Promoting Inclusivity in Research and The Workplace
The theme of our annual internal Springboard Conference this year is equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in research and the workplace. The full-day conference will take place on 17 April 2024, with fringe sessions taking place throughout the week of the 15th- 19th April.
We want to be part of a safe, fair and welcoming environment that celebrates each other's differences and empowers individuals. Understanding our differences and learning about biases (unconscious or otherwise) and how to address and manage them is an integral part of creating an inclusive culture, and this year's conference will provide an opportunity to explore, learn and discuss all things EDI whilst taking the opportunity to celebrate some of our research in areas of inclusion. Find out more about Wrexham University's commitment to supporting, developing and promoting equality and diversity.
We are also running a Fringe Festival around the conference day, from 15 to 19 April 2024. The focus of the Fringe Festival is Neurodiversity in the Workplace. What does neurodiversity mean? How can we best support our neurodiverse colleagues and researchers? How do we identify and harness the plethora of skills and strengths that come with thinking differently? These are just a few topics we will delve into during our Fringe Festival events.
We have a host of internal and external speakers running varied sessions throughout the Conference and Fringe Festival, including our Keynote Speaker, Dr Louise Bright, Vice Chancellor Enterprise, Engagement and Partnerships at the University of South Wales, who will discuss Wales' Women in STEM.

- Thank You!
Organising the Springboard event takes a gigantic team effort and we would like to extend our sincere thanks to all involved who work so hard to make all the ideas and planning come to life. As we heard someone once say “thanks don’t have to be long, they just have to be sincere” – and this thank you is certainly short but sincere.
