Lynda Powell

Director of Operations

    Lynda joined the University in June 2000 and became Executive Director of Operations in 2014. She is a member of the University’s Vice Chancellors Executive team, working collaboratively with colleagues in the leadership, management, and effective operation of the University.

    Lynda graduated from Blackpool and the Fylde College with a HND in Hotel, Catering and Institutional Management, and holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Wales. Her early career was in the hospitality and conference industry before spending the next 27 years in the Education sector.

    At Wrexham University, Lynda is responsible for the direct service delivery of key professional service functions across 3 campuses. These include Estates and Campus management (including Health, Safety and Environment), Information Services (including IT and Library), and Student and Campus Life (including Inclusion, Careers & Employability and Student Support). Ensuring that the strategy and operations of these professional services are effectively and efficiently aligned to improve the business capability, service effectiveness and overall efficiency of the University is a key aspect of Lynda’s role.

    Lynda is also a Member of the Institute of Hospitality, a Director of Glyndwr Services Ltd and a Director of North Wales Science Ltd (Xplore! Science Discovery Centre)

    At Wrexham University, Lynda aims to make a significant contribution to Campus 2025- an £80m strategy to enhance the university’s campuses (Land, buildings, and infrastructure) to ensure that students have the best facilities and learning environment. As Chair of the University’s Sustainability Action Working Group, Lynda is also providing leadership and support in ensuring that the University becomes a more environmentally aware, energy efficient and ethical institution.
