What were you doing before coming to Wrexham University?
Before coming to Wrexham University, I was studying my A-levels at sixth form, where I studied Biology, Geography, and Business Studies. I was also playing hockey regularly for my local team and school. These subjects gave me a deeper understanding of each area and provided opportunities to explore potential careers within those fields. Some of the experiences from Biology ultimately led me to pursue my Physiotherapy degree.
What attracted you to Wrexham University?
I was attracted to Wrexham University because of the top-class facilities available here. I also appreciated the small class sizes, as they allow the teaching team to better understand students and their learning needs. Additionally, I feel the small class sizes give students the opportunity to make more progress and receive more guided support.
Tell us a bit about your course
Our course is split into three main aspects: Musculoskeletal, Neurological, and Cardiorespiratory. These are the core areas of Physiotherapy, and we study various modules that provide us with the necessary knowledge to make clinical decisions in the future. Additionally, research is embedded into the course, and practicing research skills helps us as students make evidence-based decisions in practice.
What was the atmosphere like around campus?
The atmosphere on campus is really nice, and I think everyone is so friendly. If you ever have any problems, there’s always someone around to lend a hand. So far, the warm welcome I received when I first arrived on campus hasn’t changed. I feel that everyone shares the same attitude: to be part of something that helps you achieve your best.
What did you enjoy most about your course?
I enjoy the practical sessions the most because they are the most interactive, and I feel that I can immediately apply the skills I’ve learned in lectures. I also enjoy meeting service users and learning about their stories.
What was the support like?
I feel that the support has been second to none so far. Whenever I’ve needed anything, there’s always been someone there to help with my questions or concerns. I’ve found the ASK desk to be a great idea, as I can get the support I need quickly and confidentially whenever necessary.
How do you think you have benefited from studying at Wrexham University?
Since starting my degree last year, I’ve met some lovely and kind people, both within my course, among my flat mates, and from the staff, who have all been there to support me throughout my studies.
Not only that, but Wrexham University is providing me with the skills needed to become the best professional in my field when I graduate.
Would you recommend undertaking a course with Wrexham University, and why?
I would definitely recommend undertaking a course here at Wrexham University. There is a strong and diverse community that has been developed here. Not only that, but the opportunities so far have been second to none, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
