What were you doing before coming to Wrexham University?

Before coming to Wrexham University, I was studying Childcare, Learning, and Development at College.

What attracted you to Wrexham University?

 I got into Wrexham University through clearing after a last-minute change of mind.

Tell us a bit about your course

My course was very practical, with a lot of simulations that replicated real-world scenarios. The PhD was very self-led and research-intensive, but as I was self-funded, I chose an area that I was really interested in and ended up developing a tool to assist researchers, practitioners, and students in furthering their understanding of the decomposition process.

What was the atmosphere like around campus?

The atmosphere around campus was vibrant and welcoming.

What did you enjoy most about your course?

What I enjoyed most about my course were the practical aspects and simulations; they gave me a taste of what life would be like in a forensic career post-graduation.

What was the support like?

The support at university was really good. I was diagnosed with dyslexia when one of my lecturers picked up on some of the signs.

How do you think you have benefited from studying at Wrexham University?

There were loads of opportunities for personal and self-development along the way, and I took every opportunity that came my way. I have presented at conferences, traveled to a number of different countries to extend my knowledge within my subject area, and got to meet some like-minded people along the way.

Would you recommend undertaking a course with Wrexham University, and why?

Yes, I would recommend undertaking a course with Wrexham University. The undergraduate forensic science degree is great fun with tons of practical simulations that will prepare students for careers in forensic science.
