What you will study
Core modules:
- International Entrepreneurship (30 credits) - This module aims to explore different entrepreneurial processes, concepts, theoretical models, and the role culture plays when starting, managing, and developing a global venture. You will understand how environmental factors affect international entrepreneurship and discover how entrepreneurs make choices on a domestic & international level, including international expansion, whilst looking at the global monetary environment in preparation for how a global business plan should be developed.
- Corporate Strategy (30 credits) - The module provides insights into the factors influencing the formulation and implementation of strategy within a business environment. The module will consider internal and external factors which impact and influence strategy and leadership and evaluate how this translates to management and operations. The module aims to facilitate the understanding of issues arising out of the process of internationalisation as well as ethical trading and corporate social responsibility.
- Strategic Leadership (30 credits) - This module aims to develop your strategic leadership skills through the application of leadership tools, models and analytical techniques. You will learn how to communicate complex strategic insights, and demonstrate responsible leadership in challenging, sensitive and pressured situations and scenarios and contexts. You will apply leadership theories and concepts to complex organisational challenges, developing reflective, analytical and interpersonal skills that will aide problem-solving, and decision-making techniques across a range of scenarios.
- Business Analytics and AI (30 credits) - This module aims to develop analytical skills that enable learners to build capabilities and understanding of how organisational data across business functions can be transformed into strategic insights for performance and competitive advantage. It is the bridge between academic theory and applied innovation and practice, that equips learners with the necessary knowledge to transfer data from systems to insights and make data-driven decision-making in complex and uncertain business environments.
- Capstone Project (60 credits) - You will complete an independent project is designed to provide you with practical opportunities to apply your learning to real business scenarios or new venture opportunities. You will evidence and apply your research and make informed decisions on business environments and challenges which impact and influence concepts and operations and present considered arguments and solutions within your area of business discipline, demonstrating both academic and professional acumen. This module will allow you to integrate your previous learning and will provide you with an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills, as well as reflect on your strengths for future development.
Entry requirements & applying
Applicants will normally hold an honours degree of 2:2 or above in any subject), or international equivalent. A non-graduate qualification, which the University deems to be of satisfactory standard for the purpose of post-graduate admission may also be accepted. Applicants may be a recent graduate, who have achieved their honours degree, and wish to continue to post graduate studies to elevate their career opportunities. Where necessary, or as part of the University’s policies and processes, applicants may be subject to additional selection criteria.
Teaching & Assessment
The learning and teaching strategy will consist of formal lectures to present theory, principles and practices which will form the foundation of the learning outcomes. Students will be encouraged to interact and contribute to classroom learning as a means of developing critical skills, and to strengthen their knowledge and understanding of theory to practice. Lectures will be structured to encourage individual and group activities using real world case studies and live business examples enabling students to develop their collaborative, decision making, judging and evaluating skills, as well as key transferable employability skills. In addition, students will be encouraged to undertake self-directed study and further research on their chose area of study, as well as related topics, to acquire additional perspectives which will provide them with a greater understanding of the sports business management topics within organisations and the wider environment.
