Visa Extensions
Extending your Student Visa in the UK
Students sponsored under the student visa route are expected to complete their course within the start and end dates stated on their Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).
If your course includes a resit or repeat that requires continued attendance and active engagement, you may be eligible to apply for a visa extension to complete your intended qualification.
Eligibility for a new CAS
In certain circumstances, the University may be able to issue a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), as outlined in our CAS Policy.
Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) Policy.
Please be aware that the University will not be able to issue a new CAS to support a visa extension if any of the following circumstances apply:
- You have already submitted your final assessment and are awaiting results.
- There is insufficient time remaining under the student visa time limit to complete the course and achieve the intended qualification.
- You are required to undertake resits that are assessment only, with no requirement for in person attendance.
- You have outstanding tuition or accommodation fees owed to the University.
- Student visas cannot be extended solely for the purpose of awaiting results to support a Graduate Route visa application.
- Further sponsorship does not meet academic progression requirements.
- A CAS is requested solely for the purpose of attending graduation.
- You have been withdrawn or exited from your studies following a breach of university rules or regulations.
