What were you doing before coming to Wrexham University?
I was working for the Welsh Ambulance Service in the control room.
What attracted you to Wrexham University?
Firstly it was the area of Wrexham and being in North Wales, it has a real buzz through it. Another reason I chose the University was that the course pushes you to work interprofessional with other allied health care courses. This allows us to build on our knowledge and interprofessional working throughout our study.
What did you enjoy most about your course?
It’s a small cohort size and this allows you to bond with your fellow students and learn together while also allowing you to have more tailored support from the teaching team.
The teaching is always fun and exciting. The scenario days are mixed with the teaching team (who are working paramedics in practice) along with operational Paramedics coming in to assist and allows you to ask questions and work as a team.
What was the support like?
There is plenty of support on the course from all the staff. The lecturers are always on hand to help and to explain things in more detail by email, teams or in-person.
The University also has a wide range of resources of support available via the library and The Student Portal from financial advice, wellbeing, counselling ,academic skills and support.
How do you think you have benefited from studying at Wrexham University?
I have met some amazing and wonderful people so far and have enjoyed every minute of it. The main benefit for me is the small cohort size allowing a more one to one approach to teaching and feeling as if I have been heard.
Would you recommend undertaking a course with Wrexham University, and why?
Yes! I would recommend anybody who’s debating if they should study an undergraduate course here. There is a real sense of community and everybody is friendly and happy to help.
Exciting, Fun, Enjoyable!
