Welcome to St Asaph
Our site at St Asaph is a cutting-edge research centre for the opto-electronics technology industry.
Based on St Asaph Business Park on the North Wales coast - just over 30 miles and a 50 minute drive from Wrexham, we bring together the university and industry worlds.
OpTIC hosts state-of-the-art nursing suites and training facilities to accommodate Wrexham University’s cohort of Adult, Child and Mental Health Nursing degree students.
As well as hosting well-equipped conference facilities, a restaurant, and meeting rooms with wireless broadband connectivity, there is a strong focus on science laboratories and research facilities, as you would expect. Its modern facilities for conferences, exhibitions, seminars, training and meetings are also available for hire by outside organisations.
The centre also offers lab and office space to support the growth and development of small businesses. The recently launched Space Enterprise Lab (SEL), one of Satellite Applications Catapult's UK-wide network of free-to-use space innovation facilities, is also located at OpTIC.
OpTIC is home to Glyndŵr Innovations Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Wrexham University.
Our scientists are renowned for their technology and scientific innovation, and offer bespoke engineering design and consultancy services. Our pioneering project, producing prototype mirrors for the world’s largest telescope, is based here.
