Art of Research
Explore your research through creativity, collaboration, and conversation!
The Art of Research is a biennial interactive workshop designed for research-active staff and doctoral students across disciplines. The session encourages participants to think differently about their research through creative practice, discussion, and collaboration with artists studying on the MA Art Interdisciplinary Practice course at Wrexham University.

Research can often become deeply focused on methodology, data, and detail. This workshop offers an opportunity to step back, reconnect with the bigger picture of your work, and explore new ways of communicating and conceptualising your ideas whilst having lots of fun (messiness is encouraged)!
Working alongside artists and fellow researchers, participants are guided through a series of creative exercises designed to:
- reflect on their research journey
- clarify complex ideas
- communicate research to non-specialist audiences
- identify themes, motivations, and connections
- develop confidence in discussing their work
- explore research from new perspectives

The workshop combines discussion, reflection, visual thinking, and collaborative artmaking in a supportive and informal environment. No artistic experience is required (no, really, you can be the world’s worst artist).
The Art of Research is open biennially to doctoral researchers, early career researchers, research-active academic staff, and professional services staff involved in research and scholarship
Further details, dates, and booking information for the next session will be shared via the Research Office and staff development communications.
